Adrian Hallam is an award-winning composer and professional hornist who has redefined the landscape of educational music with his innovative and high-energy approach.
A prominent figure in the Australian music scene, Adrian’s works for wind band - most notably Stadium Rock, Haunted, Volcano and Exuberance, have become some of the nation's most popular performance pieces for developing ensembles.
His pedagogical influence extends into the realm of instrumental music; he has published an extensive catalog of works for Horn and Piano across all grade levels, many of which are featured in the Australian Music Examination Board (AMEB) syllabus. In 2021, Adrian was selected by the AMEB to compose the Horn Sight Reading and Transposition book.
On the international stage, Adrian’s compositions have been showcased at the prestigious Midwest Clinic in Chicago and recognised by the American Band Association, the Singapore Wind Band Composition Contest, and the UK Songwriting Contest. His 2015 commission, Blockbuster, written for the International Horn Society conference in Los Angeles, featured an elite horn quartet of soloists from the Berlin Philharmonic, Los Angeles Philharmonic, and London Symphony Orchestra.
Adrian’s accolades include winning the 3rd Annual Davidson Wind Ensemble Composition Competition (2020) and the Inaugural Australian National Composition Competition (String Orchestra Division, 2021). As a highly sought-after professional French Horn player, Adrian maintains a prolific career as a studio and orchestral musician. His diverse performance profile includes classical giants like José Carreras and Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and contemporary stars such as Josh Groban, Tom Odell, and John Farnham. Highlights include concerts with Joy Division, comedian Eric Idle, Daleks from Doctor Who and a recent tour with the Les Misérables Arena Spectacular.
