The title of this work is derived from the county in Ireland where it is thought this air originated from.
It was first published as an anonymous air in the 1855 book The Ancient Music of Ireland. The book attributes the air’s submission to a Jane Ross of Londonderry.
As a result of this, the air came to be known as “Londonderry Air”
Londonderry Air is arranged for students of 4th Grade standard.
