The Ulysses butterfly is generally considered to be Australia’s most beautiful butterfly.
It lives in the tropical rainforest areas of Northern Queensland. The Ulysses is also found in Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.
The Ulysses butterfly varies in size and has an average wingspan of 14cm.
It’s upper wings are an iridescent electric blue. When in flight, the butterfly can be seen hundreds of metres away as sudden bright blue flashes.
